AhsayOBS / AhsayRPS: v6.29.0.0, Pre-7.3.2.0
OS: All platforms
Description:
This document contains instruction on how to start an AhsayRPS (replication server) as AhsayOBS (backup server).
Steps:
Refer to the following steps:
Note:
For AhsayRPS with retention enabled, only the current snapshot of a replicated AhsayOBS can be converted to.
Assumption:
The following assumption are made for example purposes:
AhsayOBS and AhsayRPS are installed at | - | C:\Program Files\AhsayOBS and AhsayRPS |
Receiver Home of the replicated AhsayOBS is located at | - | D:\RepHome |
Policy Home of the replicated AhsayOBS is located at | - | E:\Policy |
System Home of the replicated AhsayOBS is located at | - | E:\System |
User Homes of the replicated AhsayOBS is | - | E:\Users and F:\Users |
Instruction:
Refer to the following steps:
- On AhsayRPS, login to the AhsayOBS web management console (not the AhsayRPS management console).
- Select [Manage System], [Software License]. Enter the Licensee Name and License Key (that was previous used on the replicated AhsayOBS):
- Press the [Update] button, ensure that the license information are properly applied by checking the User Add-on Modules available under [Software License].
Important:
Before continuing on with the next step, ensure that the license is properly applied onto the new server (before updating the User Home settings). Failure to do so will result in all backup accounts being suspended and all backup settings reset.
Also, ensure to shutdown the previously running AhsayOBS service so that you are not running two servers with the same Ahsay license. - Select [Manage System], select [Server Configuration]. Edit the System, Policy and User Homes settings accordingly.
Using the above assumption as example:- Specify the System Home of the new AhsayOBS server to the replication home directory, in this case:
D:\RepHome\files\E%3A\System - Specify the Policy Home of the new AhsayOBS server to the replication home directory, in this case:
D:\RepHome\files\E%3A\Policy - Specify the User Homes of the new AhsayOBS server to the replication home directory, in this case:
D:\RepHome\files\E%3A\Users
and
D:\RepHome\files\F%3A\Users
Note:
%3A is the URL encoding for the colon character (e.g. E: = E%3A ) - Specify the System Home of the new AhsayOBS server to the replication home directory, in this case:
- For AhsayRPS with retention feature enabled, re-locate all replication retention folder within the replicated User Home (e.g. folder name with date format YYYY-MM-DD-hh-mm-ss):
D:\RepHome\files\E%3A\Users\2014-01-01-00-07-32
D:\RepHome\files\F%3A\Users\2014-01-02-00-06-56
Re-locate these retention folders to another location outside of the User Home. - For customization made on the previous AhsayOBS (e.g. branding file, server configuration file), copy these files from the Receiver Home directory to the current AhsayOBS installation directory (e.g. the AhsayRPS installation directory):
D:\RepHome\files\C%3A\Program Files\AhsayOBS and AhsayRPS
to
C:\Program Files\AhsayOBS and AhsayRPS
Important:
Do not copy the license.xml, rps.xml, rpsRecv.xml or rpsSend.xml file over. - Since backup file indexes are never replicated, perform a system wide user rebuild afterward.
Select [Manage System], [Routine Job], then [Rebuild User Storage], modify the [Time to run] setting to begin the rebuild.
Note:
- For AhsayRPS with multiple Receiver Homes, the same steps cannot be performed.
For these cases, migrate each receivers' replicated data onto a separate server for each receivers. These migrated data can then be used to startup a new AhsayOBS server for each receiver. Refer to Article #2526 for detailed instruction. - For AhsayOBS and AhsayRPS installation on Linux platforms, basically the steps are the same, except that all directory paths are in the Linux convention.
