====== AhsayCBS v8.5.2 New Features ====== ===== v6 to v8 Backup Set Data Migration ===== ==== Introduction ==== For partners who are planning to upgrade existing AhsayOBS v6 servers to AhsayCBS v8 or who have already upgraded from AhsayOBS v6 to AhsayCBS v8 and have not yet started or completed v6 to v8 backup set data migration, the conversion of v6 backup set data format to v8, 16 MB or 32 MB blocks format. With the release of AhsayCBS v8.5.2.0 and above, the v6 to v8 backup set data migration has been enhanced to run in a separate process, it was originally included in the AhsayCBS Java process. This means the data migration job will not utilize the Java memory resources of AhsayCBS Java process, as the data migration thread will run in its own independent Java process with its own dedicated Java memory setting. The backup set data migration job will not affect the performance or stability of the AhsayCBS service, even if the data migration job crashes. In the event the data migration job where to hang or become unresponsive the system administrator can terminate the process from the operating system. As it is now a separate process, it is easier to allocate resources and to monitor the status of the data migration job. By default, the memory for the data migration is set to 1024 Java memory. However, the Java memory allocation can be customized by the system administrator. The status of the data migration process can only be monitored from the operating system on the AhsayCBS server. \\ ==== Data Migration Process Details ==== This illustrates how to read the information returned by the data migration process from the AhsayCBS server operating system. As some of the backed-up photos and videos have already been removed from the mobile device.\\ \\ In case the previously backed-up photos and videos were not copied to the new location, even though the backup will re-upload all the photos and videos again from the mobile device, this will not include the photos and videos removed by the Free up space feature. * **Move to a new location in the same machine with disabled Free up space.**\\ \\ If Free up space is disabled on the Ahsay Mobile app, there are two (2) options available, copy the previously backed-up photos and videos to the new location or continue to backup in the new location.\\ \\ In case the previously backed-up photos and videos were not copied to the new location, the backup will re-upload all the photos and videos again from the mobile device. ==== New Machine ==== * **Move to a new machine with enabled or disabled Free up space due to upgrade.**\\ \\ If the machine needs upgrading, the previously backed-up photos and videos are still available.\\ \\ If Free up space is enabled on the Ahsay Mobile app, it is strongly recommended to copy the previously backed-up photos and videos to the new machine to prevent missing data. As some of the backed-up photos and videos have already been removed from the mobile device.\\ \\ Even If Free up space is disabled, it is recommended to copy the previously backed-up photos and videos to the new machine otherwise the photos and videos on the mobile device will be backed-up again from scratch. **NOTES:** * If the machine is lost/stolen, changing the mobile destination is not supported as it is required to re-register your mobile devices on AhsayOBM and perform backup of photos and videos again. * Changing the mobile backup destination from a new Windows machine to macOS machine or macOS machine to Windows machine are supported.
