===== Supported Immutable Backup Destinations ======
Beginning with 9.7.0.0, Immutable Destinations as a feature for certain Backup Destinations have been made available for use. This feature safeguards backed up data, preventing them from being deleted if the feature is turned on.
Below are the supported backup destinations that can be set up as immutable destinations.

==== Setting Up Immutable Destinations ==== There are two methods to setup an Immutable Destination, with these being:
=== Predefined Destinations === The setup page for Immutable Destinations by way of Predefined Destinations can only be done by an admin on AhsayCBS, the settings for which are found in System Settings / Basic / Predefined Destinations / %Create%. There, you'll be able to select an Immutable Destination compatible storage destination which you can mark via a checkbox to activate it's status as an Immutable Destination.
{{:public:image_2023-09-12_103023094.png?500|}} ATTENTION The tickbox used to activate a backup destination's Immutable Storage condition can only be seen and interacted with if that Backup Destination can support the feature. Non-supported destinations, such as a local paths, will hide this tickbox from view. === Preempted Values === The setup page for Immutable Destinations via Policy Group can be found in Backup / Restore> Users, Groups & Policies > Policy Group > %Policy_Group_Name% > Preempted Values > Destination > Immutable. From this page, one can add supported Backup Destinations, and then assign a Backup User account to the User Group that makes use of this Policy Group to more efficiently provide chosen users with Immutable Backup Destinations.
NOTE If an Immutable Destination is set up in this way, due to the nature of Policy Groups, any Immutable Destination setting created in a Policy Group will take precedence over other settings. If in the Predefined Destination page Immutable Destinations are set to off but are active in the Policy Group, the Policy Group's settings for Immutable Destination will be followed. {{:public:image_2023-09-12_090154697.png?650|}} \\ {{:public:image_2023-09-12_090322204.png?650|}} ===== Requirements ===== The following are prerequisite requirements that users need to meet before they can use Immutable Destinations:
* AhsayCBS v9.7.0.0 or above * System User Account that has and activated and registered 2FA security feature. ===== Limitations ===== As Immutable Destinations add a depth of security for a user's backed up data, here are some of its limitations:
* Only certain Backup Destinations can make use of the Immutable Destinations feature. These include certain Predefined and Standard AhsayCBS destinations. In the case of Standard AhsayCBS destinations, these can only be set up via Preempted Values. * A checkbox to "Enable deletion temporarily until" will be provided to allow users to delete or overwrite their backup data from the Immutable Destination. However, for users to be able to make use of this feature, it first needs to be set up on AhsayCBS by an Administrator. Additionally, deleting or overwriting said backup data will only work if the date specified in the checkbox has not expired. * When performing DIC or Space Freeing Up on an Immutable Destination, it can only work if the specified date in the "Enable deletion temporarily until" has not expired. * Backup Users with Backup Sets older than 9.7.0.0 and have upgraded recently to AhsayCBS 9.7 will need to be added to a newly added User Group "Non-Immutable Destination Group" to ensure that their backup and restore will work properly due to potential changes to their Backup Destinations.
