Article ID: 8083
Reviewed: 04/08/2020

Product Version:
AhsayOBM: 8.3.4.0 or above
OS: All

Problem Description

When performing a VMware vCenter/ESXi 7 backup in non-VDDK mode The following error message is received in the backup report :

No. Type Timestamp Log

* erro YYYY/MM/DD hh:mm:ss Skipped backing up powered on virtual machine "VM/VM_NAME"

Cause

This issue is related to a current limitation of the VMware vCenter/ESXi 7 backup module when configured for Non-VDDK mode. Any guest VM's which are powered on will not be backed up.

Resolution

To workaround this issue it is recommended to backup the guest VM's in VDDK backup mode, otherwise power down all running guest VM's before the backup job starts if you wish to continue the backup in non-VDDK mode.
